Role summary
Manages, directs, or supervises staff and the Manufacturing Engineering function. Manages the development, and implementation of processes and sequences in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies for a Unit or Section. Executes and implements short- and long-term objectives working with cross-functional teams and management to ensure timely development, coordination, or modification of Manufacturing Engineering operations and adjunct services and deliverables. Following the transfer from design to high volume production, may manage production engineering support for a specific product or group of products. Coordinates with design, process, test and reliability engineering to avoid or resolve problems. Sustains products with cost reduction and yield improvements. Develops budgets and manages within respective functional P&L guidelines. Maintains documentation, records, and systems, and may control capital expenditures for direct and/or indirect labor (as appropriate).
