Role summary
Responsible for implementing policies and a wide variety of specialized programs and procedures, methods, and training related to Environmental Health and Safety. Keeps abreast of federal, state, and local environmental, health and safety standards and regulations to ensure compliance. Typically works on assignments or projects to prevent, or correct problems. Maintains safety equipment and inventory and performs periodic safety inspections or investigations to evaluate or ensure environmental health and safety. Monitors hazardous waste removal vendor activity to ensure compliance. May assist with safe handling and coordination of hazardous waste from multiple locations, which may include, but is not limited to chemical, radioactive, biological/medical, or industrial waste. May develop protocols and/or training programs, and interfaces with various departments at all levels, to conduct training in areas such as emergency response and hazardous material handling. Reviews, and may accept or reject test protocols developed by others. Documents issues and findings, and develops or reviews reports, providing corrective action and guidance where environmental health and safety hazards exist. If responsible for Industrial Hygiene, life safety and ergonomic compliance, monitors industrial health compliance status, conducts training and investigations. Provides and maintains documentation and interacts with others in the administration of OSHA or Worker's Compensation programs and the implementation of workplace ergonomics and preventative programs or remedial actions.
