Manager Test Engineering

Role summary

Manages, directs, or supervises staff and the Test Engineering function. Selects, develops, trains, and evaluates staff to ensure work quality, continuity, and efficiency. Develops schedules and labor requirements to adapt to changes such as peaks or staffing issues. Ensures consistent quality, timeliness, and compliance with internal or regulatory standards and guidelines. Responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures to develop cost-effective methods of testing and troubleshooting systems and equipment, and for the development of engineering test protocols and diagnostic programs. Manages the design and setup of test fixtures and equipment and develops new product testing specifications and procedures. Determines or approves schedules, equipment, and resources required for testing protocols. Approves reports evaluating standard or specialized testing methods. Ensures results that meet or exceed quality, timing, and cost standards. Approves reports evaluating standard or specialized products, samples, or devices. Integrates and coordinates with cross-functional leadership teams and adjacent areas such as design, manufacturing, quality, and reliability engineering to plan testing protocols and operations. Ensures adherence to approved methods to sustain product manufacture with cost reduction, quality, and yield improvements. Sets short term testing and quality goals and priorities, based on current or new requirements to maximize efficiency. Determines, requisitions, and monitors equipment for operability, capacity, and supplies.
