Role summary
Responsible for the development and implementation of Public Relations strategies to promote the organization’s brand and image. Ensures that public relations efforts and campaigns secure a positive and favorable image of the company with the public and stakeholders. Develops and maintains relationships with outside media professionals and journalists. Manages press releases, prepares and distributes press kits, pitching newsworthy content, providing additional commentary where needed, organizing and briefing executives and managers for media interviews, social media communications, and other related responsibilities. May serve as a company spokesperson in times of crisis and may lead the crisis management process. Fosters deep relationships with editors and other senior media contacts and effectively represents the company’s message to them. Demonstrates to peer management the return on investment in public relations activities due to the impact its credibility can have on a target audience. Requires an individual with a degree in journalism, communications, or a related discipline. Requires a detailed knowledge of the news production process in various media and related deadlines and schedules. Requires detailed knowledge of the structure and editorial positions of the trade and general media typically acquired through corporate communications or agency experience.
