Role summary
Responsible for formulating and implementing the corporate communications, image and media strategy. Ensures that public relations efforts and campaigns are leveraged effectively with corporate marketing efforts to secure a positive and favorable image of the company with the public, customers, shareholders, employees, the community at large, and government agencies and regulators. Provides counsel and coaches senior executives relative to issues impacting the business and on their own public profile and their contact with the media in various forums. May serve as a company spokesperson in times of crisis and may lead the crisis management process. Fosters deep relationships with editors and other senior media contacts and effectively represents the company’s message to them. Demonstrates to peer management the return on investment in public relations activities due to the impact its credibility can have on a target audience. May provide executive review of the Annual Report, Annual General Meeting and other critical events. Requires an executive who is thoroughly grounded in the company business and who has demonstrated communications expertise gained over work experience in the agency or corporate arenas. A degree in journalism, communications or a related discipline is required.
