Senior Solar Energy Storage Specialist

Role summary

Responsible for optimizing and managing energy storage systems, including battery storage, to enhance grid stability and energy availability. Designs, implements, and manages energy storage solutions to enhance the efficiency and reliability of solar power systems. Ensures excess energy generated during peak sunlight hours is stored, so energy is available for use during low sunlight periods or high demand. Keeps abreast of energy storage technologies, solar power systems, electrical engineering and software tools. Evaluates and selects energy storage technologies (such as lithium-ion batteries, flow batteries, or other emerging technologies) based on performance, cost, lifespan, and safety. Assists with the installation and integration of storage systems with solar PV installations, ensuring seamless operation and energy transfer between systems. Monitors systems, conducts regular maintenance, and troubleshoots issues to ensure optimal performance and longevity of storage systems. Keeps abreast of requirements, and ensures environmental, safety and regulatory compliance. Advises project teams, clients, and stakeholders on energy storage options and solutions, including cost-benefit analyses, system optimization, and best practices. Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy engineering, or a related solar field is required. An advanced degree or training in solar energy storage technologies is required, along with applicable professional certifications. Related experience in solar energy storage, project management, and/or system design is required.
