Role summary

Plans and conducts training courses and programs, demonstrating knowledge of the technical subject matter and training techniques. Courses may be developed in-house, or as packaged programs purchased externally in such areas as HR, Sales, Customer Service, Safety and Security, or Compliance. Training may range from skill and content courses specifically related to the goals and activities of departments or businesses, to more general courses designed to fill skill and competency gaps for the individual and/or organization. Acts as a liaison to vendors, reviews their courses for adaptability to internal needs. May develop or modify original or tailor packaged materials in advance of the classroom session to satisfy targeted learning goals and objectives. Keeping abreast of methods and techniques to support the training objectives, develops the training plan and determines the measurement criteria to evaluate training success, subject matter mastery, and the effective deployment of methods and techniques. Solicits participant feedback either formally or informally and designs or participates in curriculum design and in the modification of methods and materials. May coordinate or participate in the coordination of administrative needs such as attendance, feedback, etc. Monitors, analyzes and reports on ongoing enrollment and participation trends to determine cost effective training and curriculum design needs. Motivates and engages the group of attendees to learn, answers participant questions during the course of training to enhance the learning experience. May administer tests, analyzes and grades responses and provides feedback either one-on-one or collectively. May provide career and development consultation to employees and leadership to other management development/training staff. May also prepare summary assessments for circulation to management identifying aggregate trends for potential future Training needs. Educational and/or subject matter certification may be required.
