Senior Electrical Technician - Onshore Wind

Role summary

Assists with the installation and commissioning of new onshore wind turbines and electrical infrastructure, ensuring all components are correctly installed and functioning properly, and maintains the electrical integrity and performance of onshore wind turbines and associated infrastructure. Reads and interprets electrical diagrams and schematics for high voltage systems. Conducts regular maintenance checks and repairs on the electrical components of wind turbines, including generators, transformers, and control systems, adhering to strict safety regulations and procedures to ensure safe working conditions. Works at heights, handling high-voltage electrical systems, and operates in adverse weather conditions. Diagnoses and resolves electrical issues within wind turbines, using specialized diagnostic tools and techniques to minimize downtime and maintain energy production. Performs system testing and inspections and uses data to plan maintenance and predict potential failures. Provides technical advice and support to the wind farm operation team, for continuous improvement of maintenance practices. Keeps documentation and records of activities, repairs, and inspections, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Qualifications: A technical diploma or degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy technology, or a related field is required, with specific training in wind turbine technology. Specific industry certifications, such as those offered by the Global Wind Organization (GWO), may be required or preferred. Related electrical support experience is required.
