Role summary
Handles property & casualty (P&C) claims of varying exposure, which may be escalated to management as appropriate. Responsibilities include evaluating & reviewing coverage, claims reports, police and medical records/reports, and applicable law to determine if a claim can be accepted and how much should be paid out for the loss. Communicates with policy holders, witnesses, and claimants in the resolution of claims. Collaborates with both internal resources such as investigators, inside counsel, as well as external resources, such as vendor services, agencies, insureds, claimants, outside counsel and other parties, while ensuring high customer satisfaction. May refer suspicious losses to special investigative (SIU) teams and large losses to catastrophe CAT teams. Must have negotiation skills and a background in legal and insurance concepts required for the resolution of claims. Must have strong computer and documentation skills.
