Role summary
Responsible for making underwriting decisions on individual life cases. Leverages underwriting expertise to determine insurability and insurance premium classifications, based on company guidelines. Uses advanced computer models and software to analyze, determine and rate applicant risk, and approve or deny applications based on medical, financial and other information. Collaborates with other internal departments to facilitate processing of applications, as well as manage outside agency relationships, ensuring high customer satisfaction. May also manage the appeals process with agencies, including requesting additional information & evidence, making appeals decisions and explaining rating decisions. Contributes to the development and improvement of technical underwriting standards. EKG Certification may be preferred but not required.
