Role summary
Manages, directs, or supervises staff and the day-to-day operations of a Vendor Management function. Builds and oversees relationships to ensure the proper management of Vendor relationships, based on both the overall Vendor Management strategy and on the needs of specific areas of the business. Determines and approves the most effective approach to qualifying, evaluating, and managing vendors and their related service contracts. Fosters, develops, and maintains active key vendor relationships, including outsource suppliers. Sets goals, objectives, and priorities, and monitors the achievement of Vendor Management strategies for the assigned group(s). Recommends and/or approves costs and performance results of vendor contracts and relationships for either single or multiple functions across the organization. Ensures efficiency, compliance to standards, cost control, and inter-functional coordination. Collaborates closely with other organizational functions such as Finance, Budget, Procurement and Legal to resolve problems, coordinate plans, or to set integrated policies and procedures. Monitors compliance with detailed specifications and oversees the management and evaluations of vendors from a technical, financial, and service level perspective. Reviews analyzes and reports on vendor performance to determine and create efficiencies, improvements, maximum value, and cost saving opportunities. Subject to legal review, may negotiate aspects of IT vendor contracts depending on the issues and scope of the work. Resolves escalated problems and may intervene to resolve issues and disputes in advance of more serious remedies being applied.
