Role summary
Manages, directs, or supervises staff and claims processing activities for an assigned area. Ensures that, at a tactical and operational level, all claims policies and processes are fully compliant with applicable laws and regulations and adhering to fair claims practices. At an operational level, manages the claims process, including evaluating coverage, documenting files & records related to claims, working with adjusters, investigators, and participating in the resolution of claims. May evaluate and negotiate terms with outside collections agencies based on volume, need, and degree of difficulty. Manages relationships with both internal resources such as investigators, inside counsel, as well as external resources, such as agencies, insureds, claimants, outside counsel and other parties, while ensuring high customer satisfaction. Serves as a point of escalation on difficult claims decisions. Requires an in-depth understanding of contemporary claims concepts and practices, and the associated laws and regulations governing these activities.
