Role summary
Conducts comprehensive environmental and marine assessments and environmental impact assessments (EIAs) for proposed Offshore projects, including site analysis, wildlife studies, and marine and land ecosystem evaluations. Identifies potential environmental impacts, and strategies to mitigate these impacts. Ensures that projects contribute positively to the transition to renewable offshore wind energy without harming the sea or environment. Ensures projects comply with local, state, federal, and international environmental and maritime laws, and regulations. Obtains environmental permits and approvals. Develops strategies to mitigate negative environmental impacts, such as habitat destruction, water usage, and potential pollution. Works with government agencies, environmental organizations, local communities, and other stakeholders to address concerns and ensure transparency. At senior levels acts as a management advisor and may assist with negotiations. Monitors environmental impact during construction and operation phases of projects and prepares reports on compliance and mitigation efforts. Advocates for sustainability initiatives, and keeps abreast of research, trends, and technologies to influence policy development and project practices. Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in environmental or marine science, environmental engineering, biology, or a related field is typically required. Advanced degrees may be required for senior positions. Certified Environmental Professional (CEP) or a similar credential, may be required. Related experience in a specific renewable energy field is required.
