Role summary
Responsible for optimizing the supply chain and/or logistics operations for offshore wind farm projects. This involves planning, coordinating, and overseeing the transportation of turbines, components, and other materials from manufacturers to the offshore site, as well as managing the logistics of personnel and equipment needed for installation and maintenance activities. Ensures materials, equipment, and personnel are delivered safely on time, and within budget. Oversees the procurement process; sources suppliers, negotiates contracts, and manages supplier relationships to ensure the timely delivery of high-quality materials and services. Develops logistics strategies for the transportation of heavy-lift items and sensitive electrical parts or turbine components from global suppliers to the offshore site, considering such factors as weather conditions, transportation modes, movement of supplies on seabound vessels, and regulatory requirements. Evaluates needs for transportation, loading, and unloading of materials. Maintains optimal inventory levels, ensuring that critical components are readily available for construction, maintenance, and on-going operations. Monitors and controls logistics costs, including shipping, storage, and handling expenses. Ensures compliance with national and international shipping regulations, customs requirements, and environmental regulations. Identifies and mitigates risks with supply chain and logistics activities to prevent delays or supply disruptions. Qualifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or Logistics is required. Related experience in a renewable energy field, preferably offshore wind is required.
