Intermediate Construction Worker - Offshore

Role summary

Responsible for building and installing offshore wind energy infrastructure, within a challenging marine environment. Lays and buries submarine cables to connect offshore wind turbines to Offshore electrical grids. Maneuvers vessels used for offshore transportation, crew transfer vessels (CTV’s), barges, or construction support vessels, etc.), understanding tidal patterns, currents, and weather conditions. Clears and prepares the seabed, levels terrain, and prepares site foundations for turbines and infrastructure. May dive and use underwater techniques and equipment to weld or perform testing or inspection. Performs maintenance and repair on offshore wind platforms, deals with corrosion, and makes structural repairs. Reads blueprints and schematics and adapts construction engineering techniques for the environment. Implements procedures to lessen environmental impact (sediment control and marine wildlife monitoring). Operates heavy offshore construction machinery, equipment and tools and remotely operated vehicles (ROV’s). Adheres to strict safety, marine, and environmental regulations to mitigate risks and minimize impact on marine ecosystems. Assembles and installs turbine components, and electrical systems for foundations. Communicates with team to ensure project milestones and quality standards are met. Qualifications: A High School diploma or equivalent is required with additional vocational training or certifications in a construction-related field is required, as is good physical fitness. Maritime and safety certifications are required, and Commercial Diving certification and CDL certifications for driving heavy machinery operation may be required. Completion of offshore safety training such as OPITO (Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organization) certifications or equivalent, is required.
