Role summary

Responsible for learning the skills to become a claims adjuster. These skills include handling multiple and advanced property & casualty (P&C) claims of moderate to high exposure, which may be escalated to management as appropriate. The trainee may participate in an internal training program that may include classroom instruction and on the job training. The trainee is responsible for learning to evaluate & reviewing coverage, claims reports, police and medical records/reports, and applicable law to determine if a claim can be accepted and how much should be paid out for the loss. Learns to communicate with policy holders, witnesses, and claimants in the resolution of claims. Learns to collaborate with both internal resources such as investigators, inside counsel, as well as external resources, such as vendor services, agencies, insureds, claimants, outside counsel and other parties, while ensuring high customer satisfaction. May refer suspicious losses to special investigative (SIU) teams and large losses to catastrophe CAT teams. Learns and leverages negotiation skills and legal and insurance concepts required for the resolution of claims. Must have strong computer and documentation skills.
