Role summary
Collaborates with design teams to plan and develop onshore wind farm layouts or components, considering wind patterns, land conditions, and environmental impact. Applies interdisciplinary engineering principles relevant to onshore wind energy systems and best practice knowledge of wind turbine technology. Covers turbine design, operation, and maintenance. May oversee the installation of wind turbines, foundations, substructures, and electrical infrastructures, and ensures compliance with safety, security, and regulatory standards. Deploys knowledge of construction techniques to develop technical specifications and oversees technical aspects of project work in multiple lifecycle phases. Monitors wind turbine performance and troubleshoots technical issues. Coordinates maintenance activities to maximize reliability and efficiency. Identifies and mitigates risks associated with operations, including health, safety, environmental, cybersecurity. May oversee support work to enforce safety, quality, or environmental/wildlife protocols. Performs data collection of metrics, conducts analyses. Utilizes electronic tools, such as SCADA systems, and software used for modeling, simulation, and optimization of wind farm performance. Collects data from sensors, meters, and other devices. Identifies trends to develop key stakeholder reports. Collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders and project team members and outside contractors to keep timelines on track and ensures timely work integration. Keeps abreast of relevant regulations, permits, and industry standards. Qualifications: A Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, and relevant professional certifications or licenses may be required, such as Professional Engineer (PE) license or Chartered Engineer status. Specialized certifications may be required.
