Role summary
Supports the electrical installation, operation, and maintenance of solar Photovoltaic (PV) systems for maximum efficiency. Makes sure systems and components are installed according to design specifications, and they are functioning efficiently, in compliance with electrical codes and safety standards. Sets up solar panels, inverters, wiring, and other electrical components. Identifies, tests, and troubleshoots electrical problems, and performs repairs. Uses protective equipment and follows safety protocols to prevent accidents, especially handling high-voltage electrical systems, and operating in adverse weather conditions, while working at heights. Reads and interprets electrical schematics, technical manuals, and maintenance documents related to solar PV systems. Performs system testing and commissioning. Provides technical support to clients on the maintenance and operation of solar systems and installations. Keeps abreast of innovations to ensure best practices are followed. Qualifications: A High School diploma is required, and completion of vocational training in electrical technology, PV/solar technology, or renewable energy technology, is required. An Electrician’s license may be required. Certifications from NABCEP PV Installation may be required. Additional related “Hands-On” experience is required along with top physical fitness.
