Role summary
Responsible for developing a strategic research and development vision and plan to enable the company to compete effectively, in the current period and into the future, in its various markets in order to increase revenues, profits and shareholder value. Leverages the latest scientific and technology developments to develop new products, product enhancements and related services for the company. Works closely with the leadership of the marketing, market research, product development, engineering, and manufacturing in identifying customer needs and new product opportunities. Additionally, liaises with university and major research institutions (private and governmental) to monitor and evaluate new research. May provide leadership to one or more research labs and facilities in the company both domestically and internationally and makes the business case for capital investment in research. Provides executive leadership and guidance to a staff of research scientists, analysts, and technicians, in carrying out research & development projects. Monitors progress regarding research projects & objectives and reports to senior management on the short- and long-term commercial viability of new initiatives. Requires Master’s Degree, PhD Preferred and progressive research and development experience in large and complex organizations. This is a single incumbent position.
