Role summary
Responsible for developing an appropriate strategy, policies and plans for the development and implementation of software applications for deployment on a range of mobile devices, tablets, smart phones, and other custom devices, and mobile operating systems including: iOS, Android, Windows or other open or proprietary operating systems. Must have a comprehensive understanding of emerging trends within the industry from both a technology and business and marketing perspective relative to the deployment of mobile applications and their benefits and limitations. May have frequent interaction with critical vendors, standards groups, approval and review groups, customers and others to identify trends, challenges, costs and benefits. Advises peer level client management on the business and technical issues surrounding a decision to deploy mobile applications. Meets with peers in the Information Technology and Security function to determine how best to integrate mobile applications with existing systems and to resolve issues such as physical and data security vulnerabilities, if any. Establishes a structure and provides policy guidance and direction to subordinate managers dealing with mobile deployment issues. Requires software development experience, including the leadership and coordination of large, complex projects, critical to the business success of the organization. Needs an in-depth knowledge of contemporary concepts in relation to mobility in a work context and of the trends and issues concerning the development and deployment of mobile applications.
