Role summary

Manages, directs, or supervises staff and the training and development function. Responsible for the planning, organization, management and control of a group of professional and support staff whose function is to develop, implement, and administer training and development programs. Determines or approves evaluation criteria to assess training goals, activities, and effectiveness. Meets with partners and management stakeholder for needs assessments and provides technical guidance and advice on training needs and options. Determines budgets and develops policies and procedures for the training function; conducts research to assess training requirements for new or existing programs and offerings and monitors the effectiveness of current training initiatives and offerings; determines content, materials, and scope of coverage. Responsible for overseeing scheduling and conducts or oversees the administration and execution of internal, or external training classes, courses, or programs, and policy compliance. Approves exceptions to policies as designated, also may interface with vendors, reviews RFP’s, and continuously reviews the availability and applicability of established training programs or services for potential use. May also manage the employee educational assistance program.
