SVP Transportation Engineering

Role summary

Provides leadership in the development of a strategic approach to the corporate Transportation Engineering function. Sets overall direction and short, and long-term strategic goals, focus and priorities. Has fiscal control and compliance responsibility and may have oversight responsibility on a corporate, subsidiary, or regional/global basis. Ensures the highest level of state, local and/or global compliance, quality and ethics. Inspires action, and decides which issues have a significant impact on the failure or success of the overall corporation, the function, a geographic unit, or a division/business segment. Develops major operational objectives to support short and long-term goals related to Transportation planning and costs, performance, engineering and vendor management policies, negotiation, compliance, and selection. May be involved at the highest internal or external levels to negotiate terms, evaluate performance, and manage internal/external relationships. Oversees the management and coordination of initiatives across and between groups and functions. Negotiates, and frequently represents the organization both internally and externally at highest levels to achieve strategic Transportation Engineering goals and objectives. Typically requires a degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering (advanced degree preferred), plus substantial related Civil/Transportation experience including prior senior management experience. Engineering Certification and/or Licensure may be required.
