SVP Hazardous Waste

Role summary

Responsible for leadership to set strategies, plans, and programs within the corporation or major business or geographical segments to protect the health and well-being of employees, communities and the environment while adhering to applicable regulations ensuring proper disposition, handling, transport and storage of surplus, hazardous waste chemicals and contaminated materials. Accounts for the reaction of products, determining appropriate waste treatment approach (i.e. chemical, thermal, biological or physical. Oversees the determination of all programs, work processes and protocols needed in collecting, storing, reducing, and/or recycling. Provides oversight for developing and maintaining regular audit and inspections of each facility including staging and storage areas. Ensures all audits provide detailed reports on findings plus recommendations and action plans. Represents the organization when reporting environmental consequences and interfaces with agencies to respond to prevention, management, or corrective measures. This is a highly technical and specialized role that typically requires degrees in Chemistry and/or Chemical Engineering plus related Chemical Waste Management experience in large, complex organizations.
