Role summary
Implements shipping and receiving policies and procedures on a variety of goods and performs tasks involving the shipment and incoming receipt of materials, supplies, and equipment. For incoming items, unpacks, inspects, and checks items received against invoices and/or purchase orders to verify proper condition and receipt. Rejects unsatisfactory goods, and implements return procedures, according to prescribed guidelines, coordinating and reporting on unsatisfactory findings as required. Updates and maintains records of shipped and received goods. For outgoing/final goods, weighs and posts weights, determines shipping charges, and prepares goods and materials for shipment. Lifts heavy items, manually or using forklifts, remote handling and/or other power equipment, following guidelines to ensure safe handling. May implement specialized hazardous material handling techniques and independently ships and receives hazardous materials. Typically requires the ability to lift a minimum of a determined weight, with or without mechanical assistance.
