Senior Manager Mobile Applications Development

Role summary

Manages, directs, or supervises staff and the development and implementation of projects focused on software applications for deployment on a range of mobile devices, tablets, smart phones, and other custom devices, and operating systems including: iOS, Android, Windows or other open or proprietary operating systems. These applications may be developed solely for internal work use or may be deployed general for company customers or the general public. Responsible for diagnosing the needs of the client group and for providing them with advice and counsel relative to the technical or other limitations that may impact the final decision to develop an application. Understands the technical aspects of developing mobile applications as well as the business and marketing drivers impacting their development. Establishes project structures and determines the most appropriate balance and blend between internal development resources and outside vendors or contractors required to effectively implement a mobile application. Manages the work-in-progress end deliverables, overall service levels and schedules on high priority projects with peers in the client groups. Some applications may be developed entirely by outside vendors based on detailed client specifications, while others may involve the integration of internal development staff on the production team. Requires Software development or Systems Analysis experience, including the concepts, policies and practices required to deliver multiple complex projects on time and at the required standard. Requires an in-depth knowledge of contemporary concepts in relation to mobility in a work context and of the trends and issues concerning the development and deployment of mobile applications.
