Role summary
Manages, directs, or supervises staff and logistics analytics and distribution activities, systems, budgets in a production environment, typically in a centralized location. Responsibility may include but are not limited to logistics and distribution, supply chain services, inventory control, critical parts availability, material handling, import/export licensing, product shipment from origin to point of delivery, third party warehousing, and related shipping and receiving functions/activities. Develops policies and procedures and oversees implementation of all logistics management activities required for the timely and efficient transportation and distribution of products. Develops and maintains productive relationships with vendors, building personnel, finance, and internal /external Information Systems management ensuring timeliness and efficiency in product distribution. Develops, manages, and controls the implementation of budgets, plans, and operational procedures to cost effectively satisfy internal or customer requirements. May respond to Requests for Information (RFI) from potential software vendors, advise Information System users or management of logistic system needs or improvements and oversee the implementation of changes. May manage or oversee damage prevention programs and/or provide reporting on finances and inventory reconciliation. Applies knowledge of banking and as applicable, International credit requirements. Interfaces with vendors and other management peers in related functions to ensure efficient, timely, compliant, and cost sensitive coordination. Typically, a degree in Logistics or Supply Chain Management and related Logistics experience is required.
