Role summary
Responsible for delivering results on one or more simultaneous projects. Implements project management structure, policies, and processes for cross-functional technical projects, to cost effectively meet technical project and business objectives. Project manages projects with distinct beginnings and endings on an ongoing basis. Maintains frequent cross-functional interactions at all management levels. Defines problems and scopes parameters, develops strategies, task/solution specifications, and identifies and secures needed resources. Trains members, and develops and updates project plans, timetables and milestones. Maintains and distributes documentation and communications to keep members informed, on task, and on-time. Identifies structures of authority and processes for decision making within the project, and ultimately manages the execution of the plan and post implementation evaluation of outcomes. Works closely with business unit clients to determine information/documentation needs, coordinates major schedules, project budgets, and key or interim milestones and ultimate deliverables. Establishes staffing and resource plans for each project, sometimes using a combination of internal and contract expertise. Employs Project Management methodologies, i.e., conducts meetings, determines technical specifications, monitors execution progress, sets agendas and priorities, and manages process steps. Provides feedback and receives input from key stakeholders and troubleshoots problems. Incorporates and tracks changes and optimizes resources for deployment and on-going evaluation. Requires communication skills to build commitment to both interim and final deadlines, negotiates compromises, and resolves conflicts. Typically requires a technical degree. Project Management Certification is desirable or may be required.
