Role summary

Performs a variety of clerical, administrative, communication, data entry, and processing duties to assist with the management of the organization’s accounts receivables and for ensuring timely payment of outstanding balances. Maintains positive relationships with customers and contacts with customers to collect outstanding balances owed. Implements policies, procedures and guidelines related to debt collection, escalating as appropriate. May review and evaluate credit applications from prospective customers. Following guidelines, assesses customer creditworthiness, and recommends the approval or denial of a customer’s credit application. Tracks customer accounts and monitors the outstanding balances to ensure timely payment. Contacts customers to request payment of outstanding balances, requests payment, and responds to customer inquiries about invoices, discrepancies, and outstanding balances. Looks up information to assess correct information and resolves disputes or discrepancies. Maintains up-to-date records to reflect accurate information concerning customer requests, outstanding balances, payment history, payment plans, and collection efforts. May work with customers to establish payment plans and schedules for outstanding balances. Collaborates with senior staff, management, or other departments, such as sales and customer service, to quickly resolve problems or issues, and to ensure that customer accounts and collection efforts are up to date. Prepares reports on accounts receivable and collections activities and provide analysis and recommendations to management on status and needs.
