Role summary
Applies technology and scientific principles to the planning, functional design, operation and management of facilities for modes of transportation to provide for the safe, efficient, rapid, convenient, economical and environmentally compatible movement of people and goods transport. Plans or works on transportation projects and may design transportation facilities. Analyzes existing roadways to make traffic flow improvement recommendations. Performs research and specialized studies to support plans, cost estimates, and forecasts. May interface with Operations, Logistics, network Analysis, Finance and others involved in planning and/or compliance. Keeps current on new government standards and regulations, as well as standard concepts, practices, and theories in the transportation engineering field. Typically requires a degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering and related experience. Engineering Certification and/or licensure may be required.
