Role summary
Sets overall strategic direction and provides leadership oversight for the company’s taxation function at the Federal, State, and Local levels. May serve on or report to members of the operating committee. Responsibilities include developing and monitoring the company’s taxation strategies, tax planning, tax compliance, tax minimization and recovery, and tax audit defenses. The position is also responsible for keeping executives informed of tax developments that affect their business including IRS rulings, court cases and law changes. Establishes and develops an organization which will effectively implement the company’s tax strategy. Must have an in-depth understanding of the company’s various businesses and business processes. Typically requires an individual with a bachelor’s or master’s degree, an appropriate professional tax qualification, and relevant tax accounting experience.
