Role summary
Responsible for formulating and implementing a legal strategy for its assigned division, nationally and internationally, to support its long-term business goals and objectives and consistent with the legal strategy of the parent company. Provides advice and counsel to the Top Division Executive and the most senior executives of the division on material legal and business matters impacting or potentially impacting the division. Applies both seasoned business and legal judgment while serving as a senior member of the divisional leadership team. In addition to other legal responsibilities, provides oversight and guidance on divisional governance and compliance matters consistent with the practice of the parent company. Has ongoing contact with the Chief Legal Officer / General Counsel of the corporation on a broad range of legal issues and to ensure consistency of approach and philosophy. Provides direction and leadership to law professionals and support staff assigned to the division and facilitates their growth and development both within the division and in the corporation. In addition, selects and engages outside counsel to provide critical support on complex legal, regulatory, and business issues. This role specifically requires a J.D. Degree as a qualification, overriding the educational criteria outlined in the level guide.
