Role summary
The Chief Pharmacy Officer (CPO) is the senior executive who is responsible for the oversight of pharmacy operations in the organization to ensure safe, accurate and efficient distribution and dispensing of medications. Oversees areas including pharmacy policies & procedures to ensure high quality patient care and support. Oversees regulatory compliance, budget, inventory management, cost savings, oversight of quality control and quality improvement initiatives. Works closely with other executives and stakeholders to ensure the organization provides high-quality patient care, and for the achievement of short and long-term strategic goals and objectives. Working with other executives and personnel, develops and oversees the implementation of strategic plans for the organization and identifies and manages risks associated with the organization’s pharmacy operations, including patient safety risks. Typically requires a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree and significant experience in pharmacy leadership and management.
