SVP Corporate Development & Strategic Planning

Role summary

Synthesizes the strategic planning and corporate development functions. Responsible for the development and production of the company’s strategic and corporate development plans that contribute to the growth of the company’s revenue and profitability as well as its market share and presence. Identifies and evaluates longer term opportunities that provide competitive advantage for the company’s products and services. Interprets research and develops novel proposals to enable the company to take full advantage of emerging trends which contribute to revenue, profit and market growth. Provides leadership in areas such as opportunity identification, market segmentation, business plan development, and performance analysis and evaluation, identifying and overseeing mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, and leadership development. Works closely with business unit heads and operational and finance executives in shaping the direction of the strategic and corporate development plans. May also evaluate divestitures of non-core or unprofitable businesses or product lines. Must have an in depth understanding of the company’s various businesses and business processes and the competitive landscape and must articulate complex and challenging business issues to executive management, and ultimately the Board of Directors. Typically requires a master’s degree in finance or an MBA, a background in investment banking or management consulting and relevant finance and management experience
