Role summary
Trained in product development principles and supports product development projects. Participates in multiple activities including planning, costing, engineering, prototyping, testing, and commercialization. Reviews prototypes and tooling models to verify and implement the functionality of product designs. Ultimately may transfer approved specifications to in house or contract manufacturers or other final producers. May evaluate materials, forms, and ingredients used to develop an interim or finished product and utilize costing models and other techniques to evaluate scaled production costs. After products are launched, may coordinate and manage product enhancements and migrations to new production processes. May work closely with third parties, vendors, licensors and internal teams to deploy and support products. May also evaluate production risks, product integrity issues, and regulatory risks. Typically requires a degree in engineering and product development experience.
