Role summary
Responsible design, configuration, testing, and management of an organization’s network security architecture. Responsibilities may include policy development, installation, configuration, testing and maintenance of network and security products such as firewalls, virtual private networks, intrusion detection systems, routers, and switches. Develops and manages network security policies that outline rules for network access and configures the networks according to those policies. Periodically conducts network penetration tests to evaluate and troubleshoot and resolve network vulnerabilities. May also be responsible for resolution of high level incident response to network attacks. Typically requires a degree in computer science, in-depth knowledge of current security protocols, and security related experience in network security and/or security operations.
