Role summary
Responsible for day-to-day operations, maintenance, monitoring, problem diagnosis, solution development and upgrade installation for one or more computer networks in the organization. Analysis and monitoring of some or all of a network environment consisting of a configuration of network equipment, routers, switches, servers, wireless technologies, workstations, firewalls and other peripheral systems and appliances. Leverages knowledge of LAN, WAN Wireless and IP networks, activity directories, and security best practices along with a broad range of other IT networking skills. Designs equipment placement and layout, cabling (both fiber optic and copper), switch and router placement and other aspects of network configuration in the normal course of their work. Fully documents the network design process in accordance with standards and procedures to enable the effective management of the network by others. Monitors overall network technical performance and load balances to ensure problem free operation and to identify any additional equipment or resources needed. Provides troubleshooting of network problems. Requires progressive IT operational and network, design, configuration, performance measurement and management in a large complex organization.
