Role summary
Manages, directs, or supervises staff and a comprehensive training and development strategy for the IT function and for the client community supported by the IT function. Identifies and specifies knowledge transfer and development goals and objectives for a section of the IT and User population, in the context of the current and anticipated requirements of the business for IT knowledge. Manages the development of the processes and methodologies needed to identify, assess and develop IT Managers, Supervisors and Individual Contributors for the organization. Specific issues may include skill and competence assessment, gap analysis, recommendation and implementation of development, temporary or rotational assignments, development and implementation of supervisory and first line IT management curriculum, IT tools training, IT Certifications and credentialing, retention of outside consultants and specialist with expertise in IT training and development. Coordinates, with peer Training Managers in the HR function, training efforts and investments where appropriate. Provides leadership and strategic guidance to subordinate individual contributor Trainers within the IT Training & Development Group. Requires a degree in behavioral discipline with a specific focus on technical IT training. Requires progressive IT curriculum development for a large complex organization covering both IT technical staff and End User Training.
