Role summary
Responsible for procuring and negotiating optimal prices for the purchase of materials, equipment, and services to support organizational needs. Typically exists in the corporate purchasing function. Updates and maintains documentation and systems related to the management of the purchasing function. Applies knowledge of company/products and operations to guide buying decisions and troubleshoots problems as they arise. Researches, sources, and confers with vendors, develops and maintains relationships, and maintains sourcing and resource lists and tables. Evaluates vendor quotes and services to determine best suppliers who meet company needs and standards for price, quality, volume, and reliability. Evaluates impact of supplier operations to determine price or purchase impact and negotiates terms. Implements administrative policies and procedures to maintain documentation; updates systems, and develops charts, graphs, or statistical reports.
